Making Use of your mountain of plastic bags:

  • Use them as bin liners
  • Place them in the bottom of plant pots and hanging baskets - they act as great drainage systems.
  • Children can use them for carrying PE gear to school.
  • Scrunch them up to surround items when you're packaging as an alternative to bubble wrap.
  • Use them in the garden to hold your grass cuttings and hedge trimmings before transfer to a compost bin.
  • Use them as 'doggy doo bags' when out walking your dog!
  • Some supermarkets recycle plastic bags, so you can return plastic bags to them.

Recycling Plant

DSC_0391-1.JPG

In 2006 the Pink Bin Company acquired a factory in Manukau to start a recycling plant. Most bins are brought back to the plant and tipped on the floor and then sorted by full time floor staff. All recyclables are extracted and then transported to various recycling centres. Some of the materials that we recycle include:

  • Timber (Treated/ Untreated)
  • Gib board
  • Scrap metal
  • Cardboard
  • Green Waste
  • Glass
  • Electrical Waste

We are committed to recycling wherever possible and are continually looking for alternatives to landfill sites.
