What is the purpose of the Government landfill levy?

  • To raise revenue to promote and achieve waste minimisation.
  • Increase the cost of waste disposal to recognise the costs of waste on the environment, society and the economy.
  • Provide an economic incentive to change behaviour and reduce the amount of waste generated.

How long can I keep the bin?

We base all our prices on a four day hireage, however this is flexible.

What if I haven’t finished with the bin at the end of the four days?

You can ring us and depending on the situation we may be able to extend the period of hireage.

How do I pay for the bin and when?

You can pay by cash, cheque, visa , mastercard or direct credit on delivery of the bin. Please note if paying by direct credit the funds need to show in our account on the day of delivery and a copy of the receipt should be faxed or emailed to us.

What is the difference between general, hardfill and green waste, and what are the regulations for bin hire?

You can download a PDF file explaining the difference between general,  hardfill and green waste rubbish, along with our Terms and Conditions here.

Can I mix green waste with my general rubbish?

Yes you can with our bins as we separate them at our recycling premises.

How high can I fill the bin?

The bin must not be filled above a line level with the top of the sides. The doors of the bin should also be closed and shut properly.

What if nobody is at home when I want the bin delivered?

You will need to leave detailed instructions on where to place the bin and payment will need to have been received before delivery.

What if I have a small amount of hardfill rubbish but mostly general rubbish?

You will need to discuss this with the office first but for a mixed bin you will be charged by weight and may incur an overweight charge.

What do I do with hazardous chemicals?

You cannot put any hazardous waste into our bins.  You can call your local council or go to www.hazmobile.govt.nz for information on collection services.

I need a bin for general/garden waste, which is all ready to go, but I don't have the space to leave a bin onsite. Can you help?

Yes we can! All the bin sizes we supply for regular hire, we can also supply for our Wait and Load service, from 3 to 9 metre bins.

The Wait and Load service is exactly that. The truck will bring a bin to your property and wait while you load it. The standard time for a Wait and Load service is 30 minutes (Extended time by arrangement).

Prices for Wait and Load are similar to regular bin hire but may vary depending on your location.

The Wait and Load service is particularly popular in city centres where street space is limited.
